My most populated board is my fashion one, titled In Style. It’s nothing too extravagant, but it’s full of looks I genuinely love. And honestly? I can recreate most of those outfits with what I already own.

As Alyssa Beltempo puts it: shop your closet. It won’t be an exact copy of that pin you saved three months ago, but you can definitely get close to the vibe.

🌸 1. Start with a Mindset Shift

New season doesn’t have to mean new stuff. We’re so used to linking “seasonal change” with “shopping spree” that we forget: we already own so much. What if instead of asking what should I buy?, we asked how do I want to feel?

For me, spring and summer bring a craving for lightness, color, and ease. When I look at my closet through that lens, things start to shift. I’m not looking for new, I’m looking for right now.

🧠 2. Analyze Your Inspiration

When I scroll through my Pinterest board, I start noticing patterns—colors, silhouettes, layers. After years of living in mostly grey, I’ve started injecting color here and there. But now it’s time to actually wear those pieces. I rarely wear grey these days, but I still find myself stuck in a kind of blue limbo—every outfit starts with navy or denim. So this season, I’m challenging myself to reach for the orange, the green, and the pink I’ve tucked away.

👚 3. Mini Styling Session

One of my favorite things to do is try and recreate outfits from my pins. I pick two or three looks and head to my closet to build something similar. It’s never identical, but that’s not the point. The point is to reconnect with your clothes, experiment a bit, and maybe discover a combo you didn’t expect.

Bonus tip: take photos of your favorite results so you remember them when you’re in a rush or not feeling inspired. Created your own Pins !

✍️ 4. Create a “Want List”

Since I thrift most of my clothes, I’ve had to learn to be patient. I can’t just Google “high-waist wide-leg black pants” and expect to find them the next day. Instead, I keep a list on my phone of items I’m looking for.

Having this list helps me stay focused when I’m browsing secondhand. I’m not just grabbing random pieces that catch my eye—I’m intentionally searching for things that fill real gaps. And sometimes, just knowing what I’m looking for makes it easier to spot creative substitutes.

🐢 5. Embrace the Waiting Game

Thrifting is not instant gratification—it’s a slow treasure hunt. And honestly? That’s what makes it special. Finding the item after weeks (or months) of searching is so much more satisfying than adding it to a cart and forgetting about it three days later.

This slower pace helps me pause, rethink, and often realize… I didn’t really need it in the first place.

✨ Final Thought

You don’t need a shopping spree to feel refreshed.
